“In the days following our field trip to The Barn Studio of Art I’ve overheard the children recalling the rich experiences that you gave them.”

I just wanted to send you a quick note thanking you for the hour of wonder you provided for our stu- dents. In the days following our field trip to The Barn Studio of Art I’ve overheard the children recalling the rich experiences that you gave them. They speak of the walk through your bamboo grove and around your pond exploring the smells, sights, sounds and textures of nature and pressing foliage into their clay projects. They are also recalling the use of fall colors in the paintings of Georgia O’Keefe which teach-

ers recognized as an age-appropriate lesson in art history, moving to folk music, blending colors and painting, and last but not least taking in the sights and sounds you and the studio afforded them. It is
no small feat to keep sixteen four-year-old children engaged for an hour in such meaningful activities but the two of you pulled it off with grace, joy and un- derstanding. We certainly look forward to returning to The Barn Studio of Art for years to come. Please pass on a special thank you to those people who are responsible for the funding of this program. It is un- likely that our students, eleven of whom qualify for free lunch, would have such an opportunity without their support.

“Art is important in the development of our children. By participating in the Barn Studio of Arts, our children create and talk about their art.”
